Public Transportation !!

Reinforce and expand public transportation within our city to:

  • create more local jobs

  • lower traffic and emissions

  • increase access to services

  • reduce drunk driving

  • support local and foreign tourism.

Diversify route availability to include/increase long-haul routes connecting major hubs of traffic, feeder routes to serve residential commuters, and circulators around commercial and service areas.

Have buses run past 2 am !! Create circular bus routes around bar areas that also connect to different neighborhoods. The city should also prioritize allowing people to sleep in their car overnight while parked on the street.

Optimize bike lane planification. The current method of painting a line along the road just doesn’t cut it in El Paso traffic. Bike lanes should be safer and curbs should be restructured to divide bike lanes from traffic and/or sidewalks should be widened to include bike lanes. Stop lights should also include bike prioritization.

Trees everywhere. Trees decrees local air temperatures and provide shade that makes walking, cycling, or bus riding a lot more feasible. (The city needs to hire a professional arborist as well.)

The city should initiate a ridesharing program that would make the private companies more competitive in pricing while making commuting more accessible throughout the city and surrounding areas.
